Galliera Genetic Bank
The GGB is located at Genetics Laboratory – of Galliera Hospital in Genoa and collects samples from patients affected by chromosomal disorders several genetic diseases since 1983. To date the biobank stores 10.179 biological specimens derived from more than 200 genetic diseases, the majority of them are well characterized and are made available to researchers. The biobank has been supported by Telethon grant since 1993 and in 2008 become a partner of the Telethon Network of Genetic Biobanks (TNGB). The biobank operates in accordance with Italian and International regulations. Since 2008, its operational system has been ISO 9001 certified and in 2010, the biobank was officially recognised by the Regione Liguria. Since the beginning of its activity the biobank has made available its services to biomedical community by establishing, storing and distributing biospecimens, getting more than 100 acknowledgements in scientific papers.
